Complaining a lot is a sure way to get more stuff to complain about. Pretty soon, you and everyone else around you is completely convinced that you are a victim. While this does have the payoff of getting sympathy and attention, perhaps even a helping hand, the cost of struggle and powerless living is a high price to pay.
It's a much better choice to focus on what you want and start bringing it into your experience. When you focus on what is working and what will in the future be working, you step into a world of unfolding possibilities. What you give your attention to expands--both in your mind and in your life. In your mind, you will see more details and more possibilities to make it happen. In your life, you will start to see evidence that your dream, no matter how lofty, is indeed possible for you.
While it's fine to see the big picture, it's even more important to focus on how the road in front of you is unfolding new opportunities. The longer you travel on it, with a positive attitude, the more opportunities you will see. By moving from one milepost to the next, by celebrating each victory, no matter how small, you will slowly move to become increasingly aware of your own abilities and understanding that the big picture is indeed possible for you.
Some people, envisioning the big picture, become so overwhelmed by it that they immediately start thinking only in self-defeating ways. It is easier to acknowledge the big picture and then to start focusing on what is immediately available. If you spend more time on the means then the goal itself, the goal will show up in full, Technicolor. Spending time on the means is focusing on what you can do right now with what you have to take you to where you want to go. Your subconscious mind will pick up on the positive images entertained in your conscious mind. It will then take these to be instructions and work on making them come true.
Your focus determines your direction.
Focus on your failures, your problems, and your confusion on what to do and how to do it, and you will get more stuff to feel miserable about. Your subconscious mind does not filter the good from the bad. It accepts everything that you say. Thus, if you focus on failure, it believes that is what you want, and works on delivering it to you.
Alternatively, focus on your successes, your opportunities, and your moments of clear vision, and amazing insights and experiences will start to unravel before you.
