The Evolution Of Consciousness

By Saleem Rana

Living in the universe is easy when you know where to direct your focus.  Your attention, what you focus on, will ultimately determine your destiny.

When you pay attention to what you love, your attention brings it into your experience.  In fact, you can even say that your attention is an expression of your love.

With a plethora of things to choose from in any given moment, it is an act of discipline to focus your attention on the most benevolent aspects of your reality.

Since most people do their focusing unconsciously, run by the habit patterns of their conditioned minds, most of their focus is on what they do not want to experience.  In this heroic attempt to avoid what they do not want, the power of their attention draws it to them.  The more highly charged the emotion related to that attention, the faster it is magnetized into form.

The universe is a sea of energy, boundless in depth.  Yet mind is able to control a portion of this energy, directing it to the most favorable outcomes.  This control of interest is your intention.  When you define your intention, then put your attention on it, you set into motion the sea of energy to rearrange the flow of circumstances to bring you what you need.

All of this is possible because the ultimate expression of the universe is consciousness, and who you are intrinsically is consciousness itself.  Your mind is an organizing principle for this consciousness and your body is a vehicle for this consciousness to enjoy a fuller, more complete expression of itself.

The nature of consciousness, then, is evolution, and evolution is expansion of awareness and efficiency of creativity.

What it is that consciousness craves?  It craves self-expression.  It does this by creating an intention and then making that manifest through the power of attention.

Your intention arises out of a need for fuller self-expression.  How you determine that self-expression is grounded in your beliefs about what is necessary for your growth.

When you can align your thoughts, feelings, and actions in the direction of your highest good, you will experience growth, and this growth is always a higher interpretation of what reality means.

The journey of all of life is from unconsciousness to consciousness.  In the rock, this level of consciousness is mainly unconscious.  In a plant, it is a little more alive.  In an animal, it is stirring to greater levels of consciousness.  In a human being, the highest form of animal life, consciousness is breaking free of its own limitations of self-awareness.  Amongst human beings, too, the more aware the person, through spiritual and intellectual efforts, the less the degree of unconscious self-expression.

The benefit of conscious living is that you start to own your experience.  Instead of things happening to you, you start to see how you are making them happen.  Your life actually becomes better, more constructive, less destructive to self and others.

The way to increase awareness, expand from unconscious to conscious, is through learning from experience.  This experience can be organized by setting an intention, then using your attention to start experiencing more financial, relational, intellectual, spiritual, and physical well-being.

The journey of consciousness is to reach a higher state of consciousness; it manages this by continually expanding its awareness, aiming for an ever-higher level of cognition.

A human life is a total immersion experience for a spiritual power known as consciousness.  The summation of this experience is Self-realization, understanding that one is more than a limited person with limited prospects.  Instead, one is the light of consciousness itself.  Understanding this at a deep, cellular level is spiritual enlightenment.  It is at this point of blissful awareness that all human tragedy is seen as misperception of the universe.  The universe turns out to be friendly after all, a place to dream creations and to relish in their actualizations.
